Dear List I just had to share the news that I have, at last, cracked the old problem of colour management.
In a blinding flash of inspiration and guided by pearls of wisdom garnered from reading this very list I dug out my old Amstrad PCW8510 from 1983. Hurriedly I converted an adobe 98 colour space file (shot on a Sinar using extreme movements and in 128bit) down to 1bit (naturally through the approved intermediate step of Color LCD) and transferred it via the latest floppy disc technology to the Amstrad. Was I lucky! - the 600mb image only just fitted on the 400k disc (ok, I did jpeg it a bit). After careful reconstruction into 1, 0 and X on screen I printed it out on my latest dot matrix printer (using profiles downloaded from anycolouryoulike.com) and voila! it matched the screen EXACTLY. Even words I typed were also printed! So there we have it. The holy grail is found and we can all now retire from the quest. I thought it had been a bad tempered week on the list and a little humour (if you can call it that) would raise a smile.
