I had huge halo at amount of 50 in C1.
I didn't tried any sharpening before but spend a few days on it, as weird as it could seems I get stunning results with this settings: C1 everything set to 0, PS USM: threshold: 0/ radius: 0,5/ amount depend of the picture within a range of 250/500.
You'll see details unexpectedly jump at your face. For client's work I use the sharpener plug-in from Fred Miranda, didn't have time enough to test anything else for now.
I would be glad if you give these settings a try and feedback your thoughts.
