After installing another computer, running Windows XP, I
am after a new CRT monitor, which will probably be the last before going to
LCDs. In addition to the new screen, I will probably get an old 15 inch or a
cheap LCD to put the pallettes on and use the CRT for the images. My workspace
and budget allow for a 19" screen and I have been suprised at how hard it is to
buy a quality one. Normal outlets only stock cheapies and "pro" level monitors
seem to be very thin on the ground, mostly available only on order, sight
unseen.
The only ones I have been able to get specs and availability for are
the following, which I have listed approx in my order of preference:
19" Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 93SB
19"Philip's Brilliant Pro 109P
19" LG Flatron T910B
19" Samsung Graphix Pro Syncmaster 955DF
It will be used for colour correction and digital retouching.
Buying something as important as a monitor sight unseen is anathema.
If anyone is using these or has recommendations, I would appreciate comments or
even general opinions on brand reputation both positive and negative. The only
one that seems to have any "rep"over here for graphics use are the
Mitsubishis and my only experience with Mitsubishis is my 4WD campervan and
rollerball pens!
Thanks in advance!
