How do you do a force file check?
Hi Paul,
1. Restart the computer and hold COMMAND>S as it starts up;
2. When lines of text appear on the screen, release the two keys;
3. When the single user start up has come to rest, type (if in Panther):
/sbin/fsck -f
4. A few checks are run and if it ends by saying, "the volume 'xxxx' appears
to be OK", type:
reboot
5. The start up procedure continues as normal;
6. If, instead, it says 'THE FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED', run instruction '3.'
again until you get the result in '4.'
You could also try rebuilding the directory with the likes of Disk Warrior
3.0.1 - usually solves *a lot* of problems.
Dear Jack,
Thanks for these suggestions - unfortunately neither of these have worked! Should I reinstall the printer driver? Or will this create more problems?
Regards,
Paul
