I am no techie either Michael. I just had CS hang doing a batch process with a "Save" command in the job. Same thing, PSCS couldn't save the file because it was in use. I will have to look into this, although I dread spending more money on this seemingly insatiable beast called Digital Photography. So far camera, accessories, computor, SW upgrades etc etc are nudging $8000AUS with much more still on my list. And this only because I bought a relatively cheap Nikon D70 to experiment with to see how it fits into my workflow and what problems or features I will need to look out for when I get a "proper" digital camera system later this year! The computor is a new system only 2 months old, substantially (heaps) faster than my previous system running win98. It too is single Hard drive unit and never encountered this type of problem. Although it had all sorts of OTHER problems!!!
