In the UK there are internet connection numbers which anyone can use. The providers charge 4p per minute and make money on the local call rate difference. My local Mac fixer uses one of these numbers when checking my system whenever he visits me. I have asked several times about these numbers in other countries but always drawn a blank. The numbers exist but hardly anyone knows about them. The useful thing is that you don't need any other software or settings.

I also notice that the filling station at the end of the road is now a WiFi access point with a special parking bay to use it. A smart sign tells me so. None of the staff have the slightest clue how it works or what it does!

I need to set up internet access for the UK and Europe on my G4 laptop to

Hi

When I was recently in the US I used my Pipex account (plenty of local dial
up points) to check mail. However, at dial-up rates, the best I could really
do was to send reduced size jpegs to people back home. I did answer one
stock request with a sample image (~600k) but in general, dial-up is not a
solution for sending 1Ds raw files...
