Snip: what's the simplest way to connect a Laptop and a PC both on XP. Its for a friend ,Ive a hub and network so no problems there.
To create new connection: Right click My Network Places, choose Properties, then choose "Set up a home or small office network". Create a Workgroup name, and when making a new connection on the other computer, use the same Workgroup name. If through hub, and your network connections are established, and the workgroup name is the same on both computers, XP should pick up the connection and the other computer should appear. To see: choose My Computer, My Network Places, Microsoft Windows Network. The workgroup name should be there. Don't forget to enable sharing on the drives or folders that you want to access. If connecting two computers without a hub, use a crossover network cable (usually red, and ordinary network cables are blue). The same New Connections setup applies.
