Hi Bob
just to clear up one point, I think you were perhaps mistaken about the
Gretag licence policy:

Since we run a profiling service here and sometimes use Gretag's
profilemaker I guess I should clarify the very important point Bob
raises here for the benefit of our clients.
from the SW licence:
<<IMPORTANT - READ CAREFULLY:
This End-User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal contract
between you, a single individual user ("You" or "Your"), and LOGO
Kommunikation und Drucktechnik GmbH & Co. KG, a German limited
liability company ("LOGO") for ProfileMaker software and all its
versions and components
<snip>
c) Profiles created with the Software are licensed for use only as follows:
<snip>
(ii) to create a profile, as part of Your providing a profiling
service, for a specific input or output device owned by a third party
for use by that third party on such device.
d) Specified Restrictions
For the avoidance of doubt, the limited license to use the Software
granted above places the following limitations and restrictions on Your
use of the Software.
(i) No Private Label Distribution
This Agreement does not grant You the right to distribute or embed
created profiles under Your private label into any devices that You
manufacture, market or distribute to third parties. >>
>From my reading of the above, it appears that profile making services
are explicitly allowed, as in clause c) (ii) - not quite what you
suggested. I was hnoured to be on the Profilemaker v5 beta tester
list, my colleagues at Gretag are completely aware of what we their SW
for.
