Others will give you an answer to your CS problem, what I can say is that
38.7 MB is right for an 8 bit tiff. If you are testing then why not work
with Photodesk.

Needs OSX but as you have CS then you must have OSX. I can run it on a G3
laptop running OSX its not fast but useable.

I will also say that unless you have your heart set on a 14n, think very
long and hard about the pro SLRn. I tested the 14n and a 14nx, the pro SLRn
is a much better camera, and I am very pleased with it. Getting great
results for the sort of work I shoot. There are some issues with the
handeling especially no flash on 'longer' exposure mode, and problems with
the chin of the camera fouling tripods, but not as great a problem as I
feared.
