Hi A while ago I seem to recall someone asking about the advisability of using supposedly 'propellant free' compressed CO2 blowers for cleaning camera sensors. I purchased one of these on the advice of my local dealer. The item is marketed in the UK under the Kaiser brand name and consists of a black plastic holder for a small gas cartridge with a finger trigger and small plastic tube to direct the jet. Before using it inside the Canon 1Ds I decided to blow any stray dust off the rear of my lenses. A gentle blast onto the rear element of my 24-70 produced a grey fog of the non-existent propellant all over the glass which took 10 minutes to remove with a micro-fibre lens cloth. Had I used this down the lens throat I suspect I would be facing an expensive repair job. You have been warned...
