Despite the KodakPro being my main working tool Id hesitate to recommend it for travel
assignments as George Brooks has done.
Whilst overall it produces very good well detailed images the colour banding is still
an
issue.
If you have an image with a large area of a single colour you may have problems
I know Kodak are continually improving the product but it aint right yet.
Strangely mounting my Hasselblads 50mm Distagon onto the Kodak was a surprise as the
images were neutral with no sign of banding after calibrating it
For instance
Ive just finished shooting a series of white hot water storage tanks using the 28 to
70mm
f2.8 lens set on 70mm and have had to do a fair bit of post shoot tweaking in
Photoshop to
make them white from top to bottom,in fact the time ratio is 2 hours Ps work to 1 hour
studio, not a profitable way of earning a living.
I also notice that shots with a road in, i.e vehicle shots, will have part of the
tarmac
in the foreground coloured magenta,Ok magic wand and desaturate does the trick but It
should not be needed.
By comparison my little Minolta Dimage 7Hi gives perfect colours every time, without
exception.
Ive gone back to using it for studio work where I can!
The advice re lap top is sound, they are not really upgradeable and its surprising how
slow
one is that is a couple of years old when compared with a new one.
I bought a fine Toshiba laptop from Morgan's,a factory refurb, at a great price, sadly
however it does not have a built in coffee maker.
