I do have 'Nikon View Monitor Carbon' on the system so I expect you are right - I can't trash it to check as the system tells me that it's "open" & life's too short to puzzle this out. But surely any NEF producing equipment will come with a copy - and, as you say, it works in the background - so what's the problem?
