What defines an acceptable Digital thread ?

Well Mike you lit the blue touchpaper and Steve then ran with it and my mailbox filled to bursting.
I hope that the thread will be dead after today, but felt that I'd like to add that all of us have different experiences in the digital field (or is that murky waters?).

I like to think that the subscribers fall into both givers and takers, and I hope that we can be sufficiently tolerant of those with less experience and knowledge, and certainly I have found when training others I have learnt techniques or methodologies in working practices I would otherwise not have come across. I have learnt a lot from the list, and I agree it can be cyclical with sometimes little to offer, but overall it has stood the test of time, and I continue to recommend it as an invaluable resource.

It should be a point of contact to share ideas of for instance how we wish camera manufacturers to develop their hardware and software, what products work well on location for viewing our images accurately, how can we assure ourselves we are obtaining consistent and repeatable colour, and what training seminars are being run, et al...

I miss the social contact that came from occasional meetings at photographers' studios to which came professional suppliers and speakers.

Perhaps amongst the lurkers there are some less busy studio guys/gals who would be willing to host some such events - any takers? It used to be the lowest denomination folding stuff to cover drinks and seats.

Anyone who has contacts in Agencies, Design Groups, Camera manufacturers, Graphic software developers who could persuade them to hold forth in front of us, or demonstrate their wares, how about doing something proactive to promote an evening between now and Christmas?

Goodnight.

PS. Whoever takes up the baton, give the thread a new title like 'Let's get together'.
