When I posed the original question it was because a thread I was interested in
(Wireless
on XP ) was terminated by the listmum.
If that thread had been allowed to run its course I would not have reformatted a
system
drive and reloaded everything, it would have saved me around half a day of unproductive
time.
It was,In my opinion a valid topic as it concerned the operating system of my choice
and
the effect of installing a service pack.
As our knowledge and understanding of ALL things to do with our digital profession
grows
so we need to assimilate even more facts and figures.
If this list was a Pure Photography list then everything concerning
Chemicals,film,paper,
cameras, lenses, mounting presses even wedding albums and of course PROCESSORS would
be
up for discussion.
Whilst windows problems and workflows may hold little interest to Mac users and Vice
Versa
they are both , it seems to me,as fundamental to our craft just as much as water was to
yesterdays technology.
As one of the first respondents to my question so curtly put it,"You can hit the Del
key".
However, the fact that this list is hosted for free to all the members gives the
listowners the right to run it just as they want and despite glitches, complaints and
silly
threads and of course the total lack of humour,I am grateful for all that Ive picked up
(despite the medication) along the way from you who have shared your hard won knowledge
both on and so often off list.
Its been very,very useful.
Thank you.
Now its Friday evening and time to down tools and go for a pint
