Hi David. I have had trouble with LaCie discs not mounting. A 320gb was replaced under warranty. The 500 and the 320 are two discs in one case. Sometimes one volume doesn't mount. You can see this in the disk utility occasionally. Take out every other disc and try it into the computer direct. I have several drives all LaCie. You can daisy chain them but they don't seem to like it. The grey screen crash your getting is a kernel panic which I have seen with multi linked hard drives. If you are scanning to one of the external drives at the end of the chain you could be creating trouble. If you have the space put another firewire card in the Mac and do as little daisy chaining as possible.Hello All,
I have a LaCie 500GB D2 Big Disk "Extreme" (8MB Buffer) disc that has failed
to mount the desk-top...Data is back-up so I'm not on a white knuckle ride
yet...
My set up is G4 867 DP (running Mac OS10.3.6 with 3 internal ATA
(60,80&120GB) Hard Drives . External (All LaCie) drives are : 2 x 500GB, 1 x
120GB, 1 x 80GB "daisy chained" out of one Mac Firewire (400) port.
I have noted recently that a Flextight P3 connected to the Mac via an
Adaptec 2906 SCSI Card has been behaving badly recently, causing the
computer to crash (Grey screen ordering a restart) when finishing a scan on
a couple of occasions.
