Setting 30-38 gets the best results... After that you have to take some care wrt fine detail. Rewashing is a must - we often rewash (rinse and conditioner) transparencies prior to scanning. It will swell the emulsion and will ameliorate many fine scratches and defects. Scan them as soon as they're dry!
