Here's what I'm trying to figure out: why isn't anyone asking Mel Gibson for a sober explanation of his rant? Surely he must have been thinking something. Or is the deal as simple as he hung himself, period, no further explanation needed? From what I've read, Gibson made a broad accusation, that "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world", that cannot be completely true. However, the inverse, that Jews bear no responsibility for any of the wars going on in the world, is not true either, as anyone looking at the ME can plainly see. That says to me that the truth lies somewhere in the middle.
What has me confused is that on the one hand we acknowledge Jewish influence in Hollywood, the Congress, the media, etc., but on the other hand if we talk about it, it can only be in a positive way, because if we say anything critical then we're anti-semites. I'm wondering about this because there is a pile of evidence that this influence is quite real - yet another pile, such as this media barrage, that says we better not have any negative words to say, lest we be damned. My position is very sincere and plain: live and let live; all people are equal; the only authority I recognize as valid is the will of the majority of people, and when any interest group at all becomes too powerful then we have an obligation to our country and way of life to expose it and put it in it's place - without exception. If, for example, there is a gate around Congress that only let's pro-Israel supporters in, as reported by The Nation yesterday, then we have a real problem that we should be talking - not silenced - about. What do you think?
