I wouldn't dispute what you say, but I will point out that we, each of
us, are personally involved in growing the seeds of the solution to this
and other problems: vastly improved communications that short-circuits
and bypasses the entrenched mechanics.

Having recently mentioned the threat against our most precious resource,
I see today (and only in a British publication!) this article
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/08/01/social_networking_ban/ that you
can evaluate for yourself,  but says to me that the threat of Internet
control is coming bigger and faster than any of us realizes - in the
name of protecting our children from predators, of course. That's the
Trojan Horse.
