I am looking at sending text messages to on-call physicians and came up with a down and dirty web interface that does so, but it does it via SMTP as an email. As it turns out I don't think I can trust that message to be secure enough to meet HIPPA requirements. Not doing so would be BAD....
So in my research I found out that if you send directly to the texting device itself (i.e. the thing that actually broadcasts the message) that this is considered secure. So I'm told (I have corp HIPPA folks double checking that). So - has anyone out there worked with these protocols and could help me devise way to send my messages?
