I have several sites sending text messages via SMTP & SNPP. I prefer
SNPP as it goes directly to the host then directly to the tower. SMTP
tends to have a delay of a few minutes depending on the queue of the
mail server at the time.

Are you wanting to send to pagers or cell phones? If you are using
pagers SNPP uses telnet protocol to port 444, very straight forward.
I have IPWorks v6 ActiveX control and have been sending txt messages
to pagers for over 6 years with no issues.
