When using VMWare products the physical hardware information is passed to the OS. I've moved Windows 7 to different hardware and needed to re-activate the Windows. I'm currently waiting new hardware since a VM server died. The build process was automated on the server. ReFox XII won't work on my VMWare Workstation copy of the VM of the build machine. It reports the hardware changed. When I move the build VM to the new hardware I'll get it recertified. I didn't see this with Virtual PC/Virtual PC 2007. I did not work with Hyper-V solutions long enough to determine if this also occurs.
