That would be very useful too, but not critically necessary. Please see my other responses for why I need this. I did find this: http://www.nativewindsofmontana.com/software/docx2rtf.html This is freeware, an executable that "just works" without having to be installed. Its main limitation is that it only converts to .rtf or .pdf. When we get into some very complex .docx files, .rtf will probably not be adequate. PDF files are often not fully, or at all, accessible to blind users, depending on how they are created, and this software does not provide any user control over such things as whether the PDF will contain actual text (accessible) or only an image of text (not accessible). Also, its user interface is only minimally MSAA-compliant; there are several controls that do not work with screen-reader software. So I would still be interested in other suggestions for freeware, stand-alone converters. Thanks very much.
