You guys are getting carried away without any concept of the specs. He
probably wants to print 5x8 index cards. I used to do this all the time in
FoxPro (back to 2.5). It is no big deal. It will run as fast or as slow as
any other print job, depending on the data i/o, the complexity of formatting,
the printer language, and the printer speed.
The question of "will it fit" is a non-issue or certainly no worse than printing on
a full size sheet of paper. For all you know, he is printing Job Ticket numbers to attach to
some equipment ... 3 or 4 digits, 3" high.
Finally, he's been quiet since he asked this. Probably has the project
finished already.
LOL! No, project not finished yet, but I will say that since posting
and reading the responses, I've changed my strategy on this part of the
project.
But it's been entertaining to say the least. You're right...I posted a
10 word question, and only expected an equivalent answer. Some of you
feel cheated because I didn't share the full spec with you. Sorry 'bout
that. I'll talk to my staff and see if we can dedicate a few more hours
to produce a complete spec. Then again, I got what I needed, so perhaps
that'll be for another time.

Thanks (really!),
