The point is these people started out without a keyboard and it worked for
them.  Put one in front of them and they struggle a bit.  Today's young
professional doesn't really need a keyboard, they have been texting for at
least 10 years.

Not even today's young professional has been texting legal briefs, medical notes, personnel policy documents, or 300 line SQL SELECT queries with their thumbs.

Texting is not suitable for jobs that require a lot of writing. Sending emails or messages, yes. Perhaps even adding sticky notes to a document. But writing the actual document--no way.
