What are your requirements? There are entire books, depending on what you want to do. Active Directory, Primary Domain Controlller, Backup Domain Controller, DHCP, WINS, Files, Printers,.... there are a million options, and sane and no-so-sane settings. My (small) client installation has been happy at the insecure workgroup level, as that's all they need. Many other facilities have environments they are more concerned about, and stricter security settings. SMB2 can be a pita and should be disabled if possible.
