If you don't want to use the fox editor, I would suggest Notepad++. I
use it for xml and general file viewing. It has some great features -
possibly the best feature is that it is free.

WordStar ? ;)
Still a very good programmer's editor. I use it only
occasionally now, having switched mostly to VDE (which is a very
WordStar-compatible editor). VDE does have trouble with large files
and a few other quirks so I still occasionally use WordStar as I did
earlier this week.
