I am about to have a similar problem with quark. I have paid for updates for
a few years now, but the latest fails and they don't want to know because I
do not have a subscription with them. So next upgrade time I'm off to adobe.

I stopped using quickbooks for payroll because they force you to buy 'a
new version' every couple of years and the interface changed so you
cannot find anything. A total pain. As I have written here before, that
is why I am staying with XP. Not that I am in love with it, but I can
find what I want.
