Yes, some of the printers have a "Mopier" setting. Those can be turned off.
The Dell I mentioned, and the Konica copiers do not appear to have that as a
setting.

No easy answers to this one, but a couple of questions: you're getting
this report from a couple of customers, unrelated, who are using an
older product that hasn't changed, right? I don't know if it's
possible to determine if the printer software has been updated, either
on the machine (these are computers in their own right) or on the
desktop. When in doubt, blame Windows 10 Anniversary Edition, as
everyone else is :)

An old stackoverflow solution for a similar problem, though on HP
LaserJets (and Win7) , has me thinking it might be a default job
setting that Windows has helpfully introduced into their printing
subsystem...
