There are several main distros, and out of those, only 3 real 'flavors': Red Hat, Debian and SuSE. And the differences among those are relatively small, mainly in the support tools offered and the packaging system for software distribution. The frequent updates is actually not a big deal. Most of the time you don't notice a difference from one release to the next; it's nothing like moving from Win2K to XP to Vista or anything like that. The guts don't really change significantly. But even if you feel that the updates are too often to handle, that's not the issue I was talking about. The reason for the updates is taking existing things and making them work better. It most certainly is *not* to chuck perfectly good stuff in favor or something different solely to extract money from your wallet. -- Ed Leafe -- http://leafe.com -- http://dabodev.com _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: ProFox@leafe.com Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
