I thought it was a very "English" thing to talk about house prices!

I guess you're hit the same there. I hear house prices are coming down
though I the US

We'll have a crash here soon if that's the case. But the problem is that
there is lots of demand for housing so that may keep prices a bit high
(due to immigration and the lack of values in today's society [far too
easy to divorce])

The only people that do well out of High house prices are :-

1, The Government (Sales Tax), Tax and More Tax
2, Mortgage lenders ( 0.5% on 3 trillion $ is a lot of money)
3, Property Developers
4, The Government (tax on 2 & 3)

In fact, sod coding, why don't we all go into government. Much more
profitable!!!!!!

Most places I've been, if you're not pulling in 100,000 single or 75,000
each if married, you are poor white trailer trash.

I'm seeing rent here in this little Podunk town I call home at 750 per
month minimum.
Problem is, the average wage is 10 bucks an hour max...
