I think the laminate is ok. It's not very difficult to lay either, except it makes your back and knees hurt. You might look at some tile for the kitchen. It's not hard to lay and looks good. We bought some from Lowes that cost under 2.00 per foot and it looks great. Yeah, there's a pony, and don't think you have to have every thing finished before you can move in. I'm getting ready to pour some sidewalk and a couple of patios and we've been here for 5 years!
