First, you mention "global terror" as if it were something like the
Black Plague that just sorta arose out of nothing. There are many,
many complex reasons for this, and the United States is not an
uninvolved bystander.
Second, I can easily re-write your words
"But imperialism is an evil that has to be confronted and the radical
Americans are the major agents of that imperialism. Defeating them
will require terrible things to be done in our name. Where does
civilization stand in all of this? Same place it's always been.
Soaked in blood."
You illustrate my point that as long as we view this as "we are pure
and innocent; they are evil and soulless", things will continue to
deteriorate.
