I know that, but somehow my posting did not make it in. My comment was that is
correct, but the material contained in one of these would not be worth the
effort. They could could get the same effect with a well placed bomb in a
crowded mall.
Now if one of these were on every block and the bad guys could somehow steel
from fifty of them, they could do some damage. It would be kind of hard to
sneak around and do this as first, people would notice the electric was out -
unless they were still tied into the grid, in which case the flow of
electricity to the unit would be noted and should flag inspection - and second,
the protective gear would make them a bit conspicuous. I mean, it's not like
you walk down a street and break a jewelry store window, grab some rings and
run.
Just the cumbersome nature of nuclear technology would work against this being
a problem. My concern would be, with the nature of some people today, that
someone would damage the device just for malicious jollies and put people out
of power... hence the connection to the grid would have to remain.
