I have had some serious grief when a Norton AV subscription renewal managed
to screw a system up so badly that it couldn't be removed and I had to
rebuild it from scratch! (After that I started using Disk Image and later
Ghost to make an image that I could restore.)

What really worried me though was when I had to remove Norton and the only
way to do it was to download a specific removal tool!! Any software that is
that badly behaved does not go near my machine if I can help it.
