Not to pick on you or Mike, but this is pretty much an original
feature of the email system, encoded in the RFCs (If I needed a
citation, I'd start at 822, replaced by 2822). "Those who fail to
understand UNIX are doomed to reinvent it." It was only with the
introduction of a lot of not-very-compliant servers that this feature
got lost and rediscovered.

Actually, the terminating double-quote is optional if the filename
with spaces is the last argument on the command line.
