You started with: "I've hated the NBA for years, thinking it was lots

thugs. They really need to clean up their game."
Sure sounds to me like you don't like the *game* of basketball being
played in the NBA; I find it a stretch to think that this meant that
you don't like the off-the-court behavior of the few players who have
run afoul of the law.
I'm not smart enough to figure out how you might want to spin your
words later on.
