If your contract had an amendment clause in it, then all that was really necessary was to send them a sheet of paper saying that the contract term is changed from 3 months to 1 month, and then sign it and ask them to sign it and fax it back "so I can continue working". It is such a pain when companies think it is so complicated. Surely a simple signature on an amendment was all that was needed.
