I would suggest that MS owes a significant chunk of its' success to software piracy. People use, and get used to, what they can get for free. Piracy is just another path that leads to MS.
If you're interested, there's a MS beta program called "Live Mesh" that I could see evolving into a distribution system for leased software. I'm doing beta testing for it, and it's slick, if a little bumpy. All your computing devices sharing files and eventually programs via the Cloud. Cool idea. If anyone here is in on the beta and would like to test application distribution with me, let me know. A major producer like Microsoft loses an estimated 15 percent to 20 percent of potential sales to pirated copies. Those days will be over; if there are no disks, there are no disks to copy." I never realized that disks were the key to piracy. -Jerry Wolper [EMAIL PROTECTED] [excessive quoting removed by server] _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
