I was wrong and petty to call you Retardo. You are not so much retarded as you are just plain full of crap. > > > > The difference between a "free" one and a non-free one is the legal > scheme > > of ownership based on institutionally enforced contract law between > > individuals, vs the one based on command and control enforced by > nothing > > more than the monopoly of force of government held by the ruly elite. > > You mean that in Denmark there is a "ruly elite" that enforces things > like public health care? Man! They should revolt and send that elite > here! My typo aside, your analogy is flawed on several levels and I don't I buy the assertion that they are "happier" in the first place---happiness being, as it were, a subjective thing. This was not a "news" article but an editorial masquerading as a poll. These come out all the time, especially during a US election year, and are intended to affect public mood, not explain or even gauge it. That said, I do think we Americans have a tendency to become unhappy too quickly, mainly because we have taken prosperity for granted, and have drank the free trade, global economy kool aid over the last 50 years, so now we're finally leveraged out our arses and can't produce anything consistently but politicians. Things others would consider blessings (factories, jobs, freedom of mobility, economic choice) we consider curses, and this eagerness to become discontent is the hook that makes tyranny look gosh-darn attractive, especially when the media is telling us how all the dinky little socialist countries with their "free" health care are so much "happier" than we are. Please, you make a far better joker than a moralist, let a alone comparative political scientist. - Bob _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
