Exactly.

And I recall that I voted for G.H.W. Bush in 1988, but changed my
affiliation from Republican to Democrat in 1992 so I could vote in the
primary for Clinton. He and Hillary inspired me from the moment they came on
the scene. And I was a life-long Republican at the time.

Daddy Bush had all the experience one could want in military and foreign
policy issues. Vice President, combat veteran, CIA director, etc. He did a
great job in the Persian Gulf, IMO, because he formed alliances and didn't
go too far and didn't try to do it on a shoestring. However, he was
brain-dead about domestic economic issues and I thought the wonk would be
better for us in all the OTHER areas a president needs to be good at.

First, do no harm. Second, improve the lives of "the least of these" of your
fellow man. Dead last, fight a defensive war if there is no diplomatic path
to resolution.

It is important to me that both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama cultivated
their own networks from the ground up using their own skills at bringing
people together. Both of the Bushes and John McCain leveraged the networks
of parents or parents-in-law to get their start. I see Bill Clinton and
Barack Obama as coming further on their own steam and intellect and I see
Bush and McCain as coming up on their kiss-ass abilities and life of the
party personalities.
