Surely the point isn't defamation, whether he has been arrested or not... it's simply that the British Government doesn't want him to visit Britain, which given that it's their Country is within their prerogative... I'd also be worried if the British Government would be taken in by one person (albeit a high ranking one) trying to paint an individual person in a bad light...

As Pete pointed out Savage can be rude and say some shocking things, but he's never broken any laws or advocated anybody break any laws, and he has a huge audience that enjoys his eclectic views. He's by no means a cookie-cutter conservative talk show host.
