Wow, I'm impressed and my hat is off to you, sir! I couldn't seem to do the simplest things with VFP5 without getting C0000005 fatal errors. It wasn't until VFP7 that those problems seemed to completely disappear for me, although I had a few West Wind Web Connection apps deployed in 5 and 6 with none of those C5 issues. > The discussion is not VFP previous version to VFP 9 SP2, it is from VFP 9 > SP1 to SP2. Whether you are crossing major versions or service packs, it is a similar business and technical decision. You consider the same things, which boil down to cost/benefit of moving forward or staying put. Sure, the cost of doing an incremental upgrade (service pack) to a major version is lower, since you don't need to deal with purposeful changed behavior and the like. But it isn't a different discussion. As you let service pack after service pack slip by without upgrading, the cost of bringing runtimes up to date goes up when you finally decide to do it. So when VFP was being actively developed, it made sense to me to keep moving forward with all my deployments. A small incremental cost distributed over several years. But the situation now is different: since VFP is no longer being developed beyond fixing specific issues, there may be more reason to just stay put instead of incurring costs of testing and working around problems introduced by upgrading.
