Yes, you can do that. The wireless router is a computer with controls
to connect the wired LAN and bridge it to the wireless LAN and the
upstream internet. Many of them are quite configurable.

It very much depends on what you've got for hardware. Your "wireless
modem" may be capable of connecting to the same switch on which you've
got your network.
