I see.
But I must say that installing Ubuntu 10 on a compatible machine is even 
easier than installing W$ on a compatible machine.
Installing on an incompatible machine is for techies in both OS.

As for finding someone with tech expertise and knowledge of Linux... 
just looking at how many people in this list have already set a linux 
box gives me the impression that it would not be difficult.

You should try Ubuntu 10 on a proper (that is, not an extremely old or 
incompatible) machine. It might change your POV
