Most if not all of the mid-to-upper range ERP closed-source offerings can be fairly heavily extended and customised with official SDKs. They would not survive otherwise, since they will rarely fit all a customer's needs in their standard form. Customers would of course be paying a professional services fee to somebody to do that, but the same would be true for a FOSS solution - very few would have the in-house expertise to adapt any ERP package beyond customising reports or adding basic entry fields. > > Failing all of these, you always have the choice of running those closed > apps inside a nice open source virtual machine in your Linux box. ;c) I think there's definitely big potential in hosting the closed stuff on virtual Windows servers either in-house or in a bunker somewhere, and utilising Linux and RDP clients on cheap hardware at the customer site. -- Alan Bourke alanpbourke (at) fastmail (dot) fm _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
