I have it running on my machine without any problems. There are
instructions on the Sun site on how to run the binary version. I believe
that you need to do the following before running the install program:
chmod u+x star*.bin
then run it in the typical way
./star*.bin as a normal user and not root (I believe - this is form
memory and you can verify at Sun.)
If you have the JRE installed from Sun point to the directory that it is
in like:
/usr/java/jre1.3.1 (that's where it is on my machine)
It doesn't like it if you point to the bin/ folder.

I also have Open Office on my machine and for the life of me could not
get it to install a run option from the program menus. Have to run it
manually from the command line. Also printing is disabled due to what I
gathered are licensing issues with Sun. Also no help files available and
it starts up in OfficeWriter at the start.
