Hello Matt.
When you synchronise to PCB you must enable the Assign Nets to Connected
Copper option.
It takes a long time to load and uses lots of memory, particularly if you
have any polygon pours or fills.
I delete all ground planes etc from the PCB first then reload the netlist
with the option enabled. Once the nets are assigned you can repour the
planes/fills and reload the netlist anytime as per usual options.
