Andrew,
        your brief description of the pauses you experience sounds all too
familiar. If you can search the archives back a few months, check for my
(and other's)comments about pauses or "pregnant pauses" as I call them.

        Time period, end of June beginning of July. The thread was mostly
under the subject "RE: CLARIFICATION: Speed problem with Protel 99SE in PCB
editor !".

        These are annoying little delays in response to many operations in
Protel. Sometimes they can be a second or two, sometimes 5 seconds for no
apparent reason. The pauses also seem to cause lost keystrokes that then
have to be repeated to carry on with your editing. Or sometimes worse then
that, the missed keystrokes cause secondary keystrokes to be misinterpreted
and cause undesired command executions.
