Ian, is it Protel99SE ? (Your IRF840 is named mq? what normally gives an "invalid character" error in 99SE) If 99SE: Do you use the IRF840 from the Protel Schematic/Sim library ? It references to a subcircuit IRF840 in the Simulation Models.ddb which works fine for me. If your component IRF840 does use the generic spice model "mosfet" (mq? !), a model file (irf840.mdl) with the model parameters for the generic mosfet model has to be in the library path.

On running the sim, the following error is displayed: Error on line 4: mq? out a 0 0 irf840 ERROR - unable to find definition of model irf840 - default assumed Any ideas as to where this reference to irf840 is occurring?
