THe only new mac since late 2012 that still fw is the mac mini, so apple is start to phase that out as well, requiring you to use fw to thunderbolt adapters. So long as you are not running massive pro tools projects you shouldn't have issues with USB and latency. Its the reason i haven't upgraded to an FW drive yet.
